Gantrex Clips

The demands of industry have lead to the development of faster, stronger, and heavier bridge and gantry cranes. Traditional rail mounting methods have often not kept pace with the increasing demands made on them. The Gantrex crane rail soft mounting system address this problem. Although the Gantrex system is initially more expensive than the traditional clips, clamps or hook bolts, this greater initial outlay is paid back over the long term through savings in maintenance, down-time, and operating expenses.

The Gantrex crane rail soft mounting systems have been developed over thirty years in an effort to reduce the all too frequent problems associated with crane rail installations. Today's line of mounting pads and clips are sophisticated, proven and easy to install. They result in reduced mechanical wear (wheels, bearings, rail, etc) lower impact due to shock loading, less vibration and a quieter installation.

Gantrex systems consist of steel reinforced, vulcanized, synthetic rubber pads and resilient clips designed specifically for the mounting of crane rails in light, medium, or heavy duty applications.

Gantrex pads protect the installation by:
  • distributing and recentering the load
  • eliminating point contact
  • reducing impact, vibration and noise
  • absorbing relative motion between rail and girder
  • eliminating fretting of the top girder flange
Gantrex clips complement the pad by:
  • ensuring continuous and permanent contact between the rail, pad, and girder at all times
  • constraining the rail in the vertical and lateral planes while allowing controlled movement in the axial direction
  • allowing lateral adjustment during and after installation
  • performing consistently over many years without maintenance, loosening of hold-down bolts or fatigue failure

Gantrex clips come in two different general categories. The 4000 series uses a single bolt (or stud) and requires drill of (or welding stud to) the supporting structural beam.

Gantrex Clip Example

The 9000 series (diagrammed below) comes in both a single and double bolt variety, and does not require drilling of the supporting beam. The 9000 series clips include an "upper" and "lower" components. The lower component is welded to the support structure, and the upper component is attached to the lower with bolts that are positioned in the specially designed pockets of the lower component.

Both the 4000 and 9000 clip styles feature lateral adjustability and are self locking and self tightening. Both can be used with or without the pad. Contact Harmer for more information about Gantrex clips, and for assistance in selecting the best clip for your installation.
