Spikes
Track Spikes are manufactured to A.R.E.A. specifications in both soft steel and high carbon varieties. In addition, good quality industrial grade spikes are often available in the larger spike sizes. Industrial grade spikes are not guaranteed to meet A.R.E.A. specifications and may exceed A.R.E.A. dimensional tolerances. Although they generally will not work in automatic spiking machines, they are very popular with customers who do not use these machines.

Boat Spikes are available both galvanized and "black". Common sizes are 3/8" x 6", 3/8" x 8", 3/8" x 10", 1/2" x 10", and 1/2" x 12".
Dome Head Drive Spikes are used for grade crossings, timber guard rail on bridges, as well as other timber fastenings. These spikes eliminate the need for costly counterboring. A special removal socket is available to fit the four-notched head.

Bevel Head Drive Spikes are used in place of standard track spikes in location where greater holding power is desired. Typical applications include curves, classification yards, and bridges. The bevel under the washer head fits tight against the base of the rail. Because of the thread and head design, it adjusts itself to allow minimum rail lift. A special high strength steel assures full head and thread performance without stretch or bend. To install, prebore 7/16" or 1/2" hole in tie. Apply with hammering force only - spike turns when driven. Remove by turning with normal hand or power tool. Ordering size: 11/16" x 6".
