Flangeway Crossing Guard

Flangeway Crossing Guards are recommended to provide smooth travel over areas where tracks cross paved sections. These guards will provide a durable longer lasting crossing and eliminate the need to repave these areas. Of the several different types of flangeway cross guards available, the Northern Rail Chair is the most economical.

A proved concept developed by Burlington Northern Railroad, the Northern Rail Chair provides the basis for an economical, permanent crossing system for use with either concrete or asphalt. Installation is easy. All that is required is spiking one chair to every third tie to form a solid flangeway. The flangeway itself is built from various sizes of scrap or low grade relay rail. Northern Rail Chairs can be supplied to fit almost any combination of running rail, flangeway rail, and tie plate.
