Wheel Chocks

Safety Wheel Chocks help provide effective blocking of all rolling stock and are used by railroads, industry, and shippers and receivers of carload freight. They are available in several styles to accommodate individual applications. Instantly attached and removed. No tools required. Equipped with rail biting tool steel spurs. Spurs can be turned and replaced without having to replace the chock itself. Standard finish in railroad maintenance-of-way yellow. Flag type chocks feature 7-1/2" x 9-1/2" sign reading "Chock". All double chain type chocks, are fitted with rubber strap and hooks, so chocks can be drawn up more snugly against wheel.

WHAT KIND OF RAIL
DO YOU HAVE?

Exposed versus Flush Rail
Caution:
  1. Wheel Chocks are designed for use on standard railroad tee rail and for standard U.S. rail car wheels - 33" to 36" dia. Do not use on smaller wheels, on overhead rails, or on rail heavier than 140 lbs./yds.
  2. Railcar must be at a complete stop before chock is placed against wheel. Do not attempt to stop a moving car with a wheel chock.
  3. Grippers are important in holding chock securely. Keep grippers sharp by turning to new edge and replace when worn. A dull-edged gripper will cause chock to slide. Anchor grippers securely with a peening hammer. If gripper is missing, chock will slide.
  4. On grades, chocks may slip.
