Switches
The following show details of several common split switch designs. Design 395, 397, and 399 show three A.M.C. design switches usually used for rails 85-lb and lighter. The switch points for these designs are normally non-reinforced. Design 415 and 416 show two "industrial spec." switch design. The switch points for these designs are normally single reinforced.

The bill of material for Design 415 and Design 416 are frequently changed to accommodate specific customer preferences. Typical changes include: omitting the gage plate; substituting adjustable for rigid braces; and using additional twin tie plates behind the heel.
Shown below are the three most common types of switch point clips. These clips are attached to the switch point using the two upper holes. The lower holes are used for connecting to the switch rod. The proper switch rod is determined by the type of switch point clip used. Both the transit and Eureka clips allow for adjustment of the spacing between switch points. The side-saw clips are not adjustable.
